BackRemote access eBooks now available from the library
Posted on: 19/05/2020The library and ICT team have been working hard behind the scenes to organise access to eBooks for students as libraries across the country have been forced to close. Many of our students rely on the school’s library for research but also for fun personal reading.
With help from Reading Cloud, the school’s library system, we have been able to acquire OverDrive’s Secondary eBooks NOW which is a collection of eBooks targeted at secondary school students that include key GCSE and A-Level texts, helpful study guides, as well as a wide range of fiction and non-fiction for all interests. This is accessed by https://soraapp.com/welcome
Each student has unique login credentials to enable them to discover and read different books. Instructions to access this are as follows:
eBooks NOW is accessible from the website link: https://soraapp.com/welcome
From that web page:
- Click on the green button labelled: My School is Secondary eBooks NOW
- Select our school by scrolling down the list to click on: Dover Grammar School for Boys
- Enter your username and password
Notes about username and password:
The username is the same as the characters in the student’s DGSB email before (but not including) the '@' symbol. It is the same username they would use to log into the school network (when at school).
The password is in the format: 9DDMMYY. Where DDMMYY is the student’s birth date. For example, somebody born on 05 April 2009 would have the password: 9050409.
We hope that the students of DGSB enjoy exploring the SoraApp and the many eBooks available. If you encounter any problems logging in or using the site, then please do not hesitate to contact either Carl Hansen (Director of ICT) chansen@dgsb.co.uk, Peter Baron (IT Technician) pbaron@dgsb.co.uk, or David Wozencroft (Librarian) dwozencroft@dgsb.co.uk
