Curriculum Overview
Our broad, balanced and personalised curriculum is designed to meet the needs of every student offering a choice of subjects.
The accelerated Key Stage 3 curriculum is studied over two years and encompasses the national curriculum subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science, Languages, History, Geography, PE, Technology, the Arts and Computing amongst others. We also offer Drama and Food Technology to all our KS3 students.
At KS4, the GCSE curriculum is studied over three years and all students will follow the English Baccalaureate (EBacc) by virtue of the options process. The EBacc ensures students pursue a balance of rigorous academic subjects at GCSE and is sound preparation for Post-16 study. Our KS4 curriculum allows students to choose from a varied range of academic subjects upon which to build their future career paths.
At KS5, students select from a range of A Level subjects, choosing three to specialise in. In Year 12 they have the opportunity to study for the Extended Project Qualification – always valuable in university applications. Year 12’s also have a week of work experience towards the end of the year. All Sixth Formers are allocated a weekly Enrichment session, self-directed Private Study sessions and supervised Mindset Study sessions.
In essence, our curriculum is designed and delivered to enable students to become successful, resilient and independent learners and to help them make a positive contribution to their community and the wider world.
If you have any queries about the curriculum, please get in touch with our Deputy Headteacher Mr Ralph. Please email the main office email address and your email will be forwarded on to him.
