Reporting Absence

In order to ensure that the Attendance Officer receives absence information at the earliest opportunity and through the correct communication channel, please note of the information below.

Short term and unplanned absence

Parents should contact the school by 9am on the day of the absence via the MyEd app (https://www.myedschoolapp.com/)

This messaging service is the method all parents/carers must use to report short term and unplanned absence that is typically due to last-minute illness, injury, and emergency appointments etc.

A link to an informative video on the use of the MyEd school’s app can be found here: https://youtu.be/uNb6ZIrxdTQ

Long term absence

The school has a dedicated email address attendance@dgsb.co.uk where long term/multiple appointments, religious holidays and holiday requests, family related absence, and planned extended absences should be sent to inform staff and obtain the relevant authorisation if required. The information will then be forwarded to the appropriate Key Stage team(s) meaning only one email needs to be sent which prevents repetition of information.

All requests for absence in advance will need to be submitted via the above email address.

As a last resort, absence can be reported using the main school number 01304 206117 selecting Option 1.  This route should only be used if you are unable to access the MyEd app or the email address given above.

In addition, if you are emailing the Key stage team and is attendance related, please can you ensure the Attendance Officer is also included. The Key Stage teams are extremely busy and do not always have time to read and forward to the Attendance Officer, in time before the absence alerts are sent.

Thank you for your continued support with this important process.
